I love these too and can't bring myself to reduce their numbers. I am
curious to see how many come up underneath newly planted TB's this year.
Many have already come through, so our spring can't be too far off
either.
On companion planting, I like salvias, lavender and penstemons which put
on a show in Summer when the iris are messy, and can be hacked back to
show off the irises later.
My newer plantings have found friends of their own - dock, sorrel, and
couch grass, along with johnny jump-ups and a small yellow self-seeding
linaria which I was told would be difficult to establish!
