Iris Feeding?

I went ahead and planted those 'Compost Iris' yesterday,
they are in the middle line between my trailer and the
next one, as we are facing north/south, right now they
get 3 to 4 hours of sun, as summer comes, they'll get up
to 5 to 6 hours of sun. I did find as they would say in
'Dune' Worm Signs! Now, I ask, would it be ok to use a
light dusting of Steer around them for a lite feeding?
And I wouldn't mind getting that catalog either.
