Mark,
I have offsets, as you know, and they are tall, strong and healthy. I also
have seedlings from neomarica gracilis obtained last April in the San Diego
zoo.
The seedling from what I see will take twice the time to mature and flower.
You get spotty germination and the seedlings arrive one at a time with weeks
and month between arrivals. If doing neomarica seedlings, keep the seed trays
for many months. My experience has been duplicated by a friend who took one
half the seeds. We are sowing and germinating these seeds in the north. I
have 10 inch seedlings from sowing seed last September. Neomarica is an
indoor plant here.
I have the blue (caerulea) neomarica seeds from the l998 SIGNA distribution
(four seeds) and I do not have a sprout to date.
I would like to have a source for the yellow neomarica (longifolia) seed.
