I'm reluctant to order from Joe Pye Weed because the catalog has the
notation, "Furthermore, please note that irises in New England are
subject to iris borer and these spring plants cannot be sprayed for
borer before shipment."
The recent thread on the borer makes my area sound like a prime habitat
for this pest. It's not here yet, and I don't want to be responsible for
introducing it.
I'm sure nothing would be shipped that has obvious borer signs, so
how do I treat the plants upon arrival to ensure I don't get a
crop of hidden guests. In addition, I've already ordered from another
New England garden and don't want to have to cancel the order.
Thanks for any suggestions.
