thanks for being supportive, Claire. I would never do it to an old
book, and the quality of what we are discussing is simply not the same
thing. Old books with those fabulous illustrations were simply not
printed in the volume that these are today, and this book does not
purport to be a serious garden book. it was printed primarilyfor the
admiration of Blackadder's wonderful paintings reproducd in this book.
when i do find a second copy, I will indeed frame these prints. I have
a very old leather bound book from the 1800's that I inherited from an
aunt. All the illustrations, and they were beautiful engravings I
recall from my childhood, were removed by someone. the book's value is
now nearly worthless and someone made a pretty penny on some marvelous
prints in a book that didn't have many printings.
I am a book lover and book collector and I have a great deal of respect
for books. Nonetheless, I do see this as a separate kind of situation.
