Well folks, looks like spring is here again after a brief cool spell we
call winter.:) Irises which have bloomed or are blooming include:
I. danfordiae - finishing up now
I DO - one of Lloyd Zurbrigg's tall bearded rebloomers, bloomed on a very
short stalk, but gorgeous last spring. I think this stalk was stunted by a
cool snap in late January.
CRIMSON KING - historic bearded, in bud
SHOOT THE MOON - tall bearded rebloomer, lusty grower here! in glorious
bloom, 4-5 stalks on a 2nd year clump, first time it has bloomed for me.
AUTUMN TRYST - bearded rebloomer, got it at last fall's regional meeting, a
very pretty purple veined flower.
GOOD HEAVENS - a Louisiana iris sending up a fan already, obviously a fluke!
Daffodils are almost past peak and an occasional azalea is popping a bud or
two. Hellebores, grape hyacinths and hyacinths are blooming. Dianthus are
in bud. Some roses are in bud and some blooming. Daylilies are 6-8 inches,
plus. Pacific Coast Native iris seeds have sprouted. I guess it's time for
a killing frost now.:)
