Interesting to take note of the above. I am wondering if Sharon
is referring to quarter arilbred medians. In Texas and in
Misssissippi, the quarter arilbred medians do not bloom until after the
the higher percentage arilbreds. I had always attributed that fact to the
SDB blood that was in the quarterbreds. The quarterbred talls bloom with
the early TB's.
Presently, I have stalks of the higher percentage aril breds
showing color, and I can feel buds down in the fans of the quarterbred
arilmedians. There are no buds in the SDB's.
So if you are planning to make some quarterbred crosses, you will
have to gather the pollen from the halfbreeds and freeze it for use later
when the SDB's and TB's are in bloom.
