Hey all,
Finally made it out to the mtn today to check on the irises. Weeds are
taking over the place, so I spent the afternoon weeding and then checking
out a few plants for damage.
I am shamelessly pushing Sudden Impact (Tasco '97) for all the awards it
can get and discovered one more reason today to push it even harder. :)
It is a one-year plant, of course, and has three increases and *ABSOLUTELY*
no freeze damage. None.
Ruffled Goddess, Tasco '93, it's daddy, has some damage but not much and
has 4 increases.
Dusky Challenger, the other parent, has little damage also.
Mariposa Skies has pretty mushy foliage, but should recover. Bloom, hmmm,
not sure.
On the other hand, southern CA things... like... Forever Gold are very
mushy... and many others too... didn't take note of all, but quite a bit of
damage.
An interesting note was that most of my seedlings that I've been working
with for a few years look really good. Mystery Blush came thru really well
as did J2-L1, it's baby... they already are Tenn tuff. :) I have .jpgs
of them available, btw, if anyone wants to see.
Well, more to follow later as the spring progresses.
