In a message dated 98-03-21 19:03:49 EST, you write:

Karen - I checked in the 1996 Checklist published by the Society for Japanese
Irises and see no SHOGUN offered. This means that whatever Springhill was
offereing, it may not have been registered officially, or it might be anything
at all with that name slapped on.
My suggestion to you is to either find an iris with the coloration of SHOGUN
and a truly registered name... or to take your chances with Springhill - but
IMHO, your reservations about that source were sound.
Have you checked the Ensata Gardens catalog? How about any of the other
Japanese Iris growers? Can you describe the iris?
Has anyone else seen this catalog???
Again, speaking personally, my Springhill catalog does not spend much time at
all in my house.....
