Thankx, Jeff - they've walked themselves to a raised  road-ditch, know they
can stand drought, but can't see how a speck of water could stay in such
drained soil - and if the road graders come along, they're gonners -  I
need to do something this season, I guess - 
Seems like both places are huge patches.
