Dear Teresa, please don't feel awful. Your enthusiasm was sweet, and it is
very sad to think of wounding you. I do think what you did was wrong, but
I'm not pretending I haven't been guilty of the same offense. A few years
back I was caught in the act of "rescuing" plants from a lot, and the alarm
and dismay on the face of the landowner taught me to think twice. He was
appalled at my behavior, and as soon as I stopped shaking with fright, I
was appalled, too.

And I should have been. I hope I never again allow myself to take other
people's things without asking. And I hope you don't let your chagrin at
being questioned here dampen your lovely enthusiasm for gardening. I enjoy
your posts and wish we were neighbors.

That's all I intend to say on this subject.
