and what I wanted (a start off off that blue iris
by the fallen down barn over by the "Smith
Place," the wild asparagus in the corner of the
field across from the Lutheran Church, etc.) I
have never been refused (although I had to split
my take of the asparagus and morrel mushrooms
from one place :-)).  I have even been told
things like, "there are some yellow ones on
around the corner of the barn that you can't see
from the road, take a start from those too if you
want."

For me, meeting and getting to know the people
the land belonged to has been worth far far more
than the stuff that I have gathered over the
years.  Does interesting things to your Christmas
Card List too.
