OT:Freeway Roses

When I was a kid the city of Los Angeles was starting the
1st steps of what would become the Santa Monica (I-10)
freeway, we lived on what was at time a hugh place, 1.5acs
of land in the city itself, near the old culver center.
At the time we moved from there in 1960, we had over 100
roses and tons of other plants, which we never paid a
penny for! We would watch the streets, and when a block of
homes were maked to be tore down the next day, we'id go
in and clean out roses and other plants and take home.
What we didn't want ourselves, we'id give to other people
on our street. This went on for almost 8 years.
When I moved back from Hawaii in Dec.97, I went down to
that area, and while our house has been gone for years,
driving up that end of Westwood Blvd, I saw many of the
places still there and with OLD roses which my folks
had planted for the people living there at that time.

Dahliaman Savor of Roses from the I-10 Freeway!
