OT: I'm baaack. Sort of

I haven't been on the list in so long, I've even forgotten myself. But I
have good excuses, er, reasons. In February I got to go on THE CRUISE OF A
LIFETIME to see the total eclipse off Aruba. Totally amazing. And then two
weeks after that we left for a week in Sedona, Arizona (it was a matter of a
time-share week that had to be taken or lost). A week there was a little
long, but I've discovered a place that has worse soil than I do in Santa Fe.
In Sedona the dirt is pure red sand weathered from all that lovely red
sandstone, and the things that grow well include junipers, manzanitas, and
rosemary, which seems to be the groundcover of choice. I did see some
purple flags just showing color in the bud, and at the Arboretum at
Flagstaff there were some nice blue-eyed grasses blooming in the
greenhouse--very pretty.

I came home last Saturday to find lots of I. reticulata Harmony making pools
of deep blue under the leafless roses, and a few late danfordiae still
hanging on. All of a sudden it's warm, to 74 F today, and all of a sudden
it looks like it might even be spring--yay!

But I also had 649 letters in the old inbox, including the 75 or so which
had somehow managed to duplicate themselves, and I've only managed to
whittle it down to 380 unread, so it's off to lurkdom for a while longer
while I catch up.
