For a discussion of the term "glaciata" see Keith Keppel's article "Placata,
Luminata, and Glaciata?" in the AIS Bulletin Number 294, July, 1994. 

This is a wonderful issue of the Bulletin, one of my favorites and well worth
seeking out if you don't have it. There is a nice article by Lowell Baumunk on
Keppel, an appreciation of Marion Shull,  the author of Rainbow Fragments,
written by Clarence Mahan, an article by Dr. Waddick on collecting Iris
species in western China, and lots of fine articles on Medians.
