I think you credit (most of) them with more intelligence than is evident
from some of the gardens I have seen associated with renovated houses.

I think this is what I have in mind with Elisabeth Noble and Creative
Stitchery.
This thread has helped my musings on what MY priorities will be as a
Hybridiser. Some of last years seeds will be collected in the garbage
this week. I may still try growing the ENxCS seeds.
