Walter,

Each year in late summer the SDB iris LIVE JAZZ (Lankow, 86) completely
dies back to the ground. The plant comes back stronger than ever each
spring and shows no sign of rot, disease, pest damage, or adverse
environmental effects, so I assume what it is doing is going into complete
summer dormancy. I have no other bearded iris, in fact, no other
rhizomatous iris of any sort, that behaves in this manner.
