Dennis -- You're doing the right thing. Like you, we had several hard
freezes during the past 2 weeks. The frozen center fans that I missed
spotting and cutting off earlier are now turning dark and rotting, and a
few have rotted to the rhizome before the damage became apparent. These
include I BLESS and some of my seedlings. I'm afraid there's a lot more
rot on the way -- and I don't trust El Nino not to send some more cold
snaps our way. But, barring more such freezes, I am optimistic that we
will get bloom from those fans that weren't cut down into a forming
bloom stalk. If not, there are going to be a lot of iris that I don't
see this year.
