I was gone only 2 days and was welcomed back by 61
messages...couldn't wait to get home to iris-l. Some were great words of
wisdom from some of my heroes like
Mr. Zurbrigg, Anner Whitehead, Sharon Mc., Rick Tasco, Roger Duncan, Anna
Mae Miller, John Jones...to name just a few. The Simmons', Walter Moores,
Lorraine,
Chris Hollinshead...Oooh, I never should have started naming names...So
many that I hang on their every word. I'm woefully behind in my comments
to iris-l but I appreciate so much all the information I've gleaned from
this list. So, I say to you collectively...THANKS A BUNCH. I did manage
to get to the Fri night chat...and Rusty's birthday party.. Blue Cake,
confetti, balloons...wouldn't have missed it! We had a wonderful Reg. 9
Spring Board Meeting...a nice visit with 2 listers, Margaret Kelly and
Julie Irwin.....a wonderful training session on Arils & ABs by Jim Morris
of St. Louis. His spouse, Jean Morris (AIS Youth Director) further
inspired us to renew our efforts to get kids interested in irises) The
Morrises are 2 more of My Heroes
We were saddened by the news of the failing health of Marvin Shoop and of
the recent demise of more of the great irisarians. It was the first
meeting of the new officers. Orville Dickhaut excelled as our new RVP,
ditto Julie, our new Sec.....I should mention Jim Morris was the
photographer for the new book that is coming out by Barbara P. Lawton,MAGIC
OF IRISES...and they are, aren't they. Things are beginning to "perk up'
here...My heart was lifted by the sight of one of my only 2 MDB in full
darling bloom...FRENCH WINE....I've got to get more of these mini
sweethearts this year. Later daffodils are blooming gloriously...anyone
out there growing APRICOT ATTRACTION? All the irises are showing off their
recuperative powers and no evidence of rot anywhere. Well I just wanted to
tell you how much I missed you and how glad I was to find 6l messages.
(Sorry it wasn't "over 200"...looks like I'll have to go poking around in
those musty old archives again) Ann Henson, So.IL Zn 5/6 where we love
