Hi there from another arilbred grower in the Great Lakes region. :)

The ASI Plant Sale is the best way to go, I think, in getting arilbreds.
They have such a huge selection to choose from. There are no definite
answers to your questions about which will grow best for you, simply
because not many people are trying to grow them (and that's a crying
shame if you ask me!). A few 1/2-breds that do well for me are: CAPITOLA,
ESTHER THE QUEEN, and FOURTEEN FOR RACHEL.

A few 1/4-breds that do well for me are: GREEN EYED SHEBA, CAIRO LOVE SONG,
OMARS TORCH, and OPALS FOR ETHEL.

I'm trying about 15 new arilbreds this year, so I'm reserving judgement on
them until they've had a chance to establish themselves since they were
planted in summer of 1998.

Here's a hint. Henry Danielson hybridized a lot of arilbreds in Chicago.
So anything done by him ought to do just fine in Michigan too. You can
get a lot of his stuff through Luella Danielson who runs PLEASURE IRIS
GARDENS down in Chapparal, New Mexico.

One nice thing about the ASI Plant Sale is that they have lots of irises
for $3 each. So you can order some just to experiment to see how well
they like your climate.

Good luck, and enjoy those arilbreds!!!!
