Pardanthopsis dichotoma is an iris relative that blooms late in the summer.
Small flowers are produced in great numbers on 4-foot stalks. The flowers
are usually about an inch to an inch and a half in diameter and are
lavender blue. Sometimes if started early it will bloom the first year
from seed. The seeds probably require stratification.
Plants should be set out in full sun, in a soil that is light-textured and
not too rich.
For further information, see p. 142 in THE GARDENER'S IRIS BOOK, also my
forthcoming article in Fine Gardening Magazine.
