OT-CHAT: Autumn in Aus, and a bucket full of Rz's

From: "Jan Clark" <janclarx@hotmail.com>

Hi All,
It's Autumn in Australia, and we had our first mild frost this morning in
Central Victoria. The sun is shining and it's a lovely morning for
planting the rhizomes I brought back from Ann Jacksons garden in
Melbourne yesterday. Among them are: JANE PHILLIPS; I.germanica (the one
with the falls darker than the stds) I. Pallida dalmatica; A veriegated
I. pallida; BLUE SAPPHIRE; Barry Blythes GOING HOME, Graeme Grosvenors
SILVER COVE, and a piece of I. Schachtii (Spelling?)
It's this last one that I'm most interested. Turned the 'net on this
morning to look it up on the archives, and an hour on, I still haven't
got there.
I also bought an as new second hand THE JAPANESE IRIS (McEwen) which I'm
rather pleased with. One large bookstore in Melbourne carried only 1
iris book in it's garden section, and that was Bill Shears book, at $65
Au. very expensive compared with the $39 it cost me to have it sent
over.
Well that's 'Show and tell' for the day, and I'm off to do some planting
after a quick look in the archives.
Cheers, Jan clark
