This will only work for extremely light frosts...if it gets below 30
degrees, forget about it, the technique won't work. Also, if it stays
freezing for a long time it will not work. Basically if you have a light
freeze for one night, it should protect them. I've never bothered to do
this with irises, but I hear about orchards doing it down south.
