Re: Flowering schedule for iris

From: DWiris@aol.com

Dear Diana,

Our home garden is zone 5 and our public garden, 11 miles away, is zone 6.
There is nearly a week difference in bloom time between them. I will give
dates for our home garden.

MDBs - last week of April to Mid-May
SDBs - first three weeks of May
IBs - mid to end of May
MTBs, BBs, TBs - last week of May, First week of June.
Siberians - last few days of May, first week of June or a little later
Spurias and Louisianas - Early to mid-June
Japanese - late June, Early July.
Rebloomers - September to November

Japanese irises are not "so-called". They were developed from I. ensata
native to Japan.

When you order dwarfs from Schreiners, watch the height given. Usually the
shorter ones are MDBs and bloom earlier than the taller SDBs which bloom
later.

A Dwarf Iris Society Newsletter should be coming out shortly. Don't know
about the SIGNA schedule.
