Well, we've been busy these last few days. Five digests in the last 48
hours and they're each a full measure!
Concerning the TBIS and all the associated comments:
a) When was Tall Talk mailed and have any Canadians received it? ;-)
b) We really would like the administration to be sorted out. Really,
'Fire Fight' should be a registered broken colour TB, arterial and
venous red, with good substance. 'Flak Jacket' I leave to your
imagination. I trust everyone will remain on speaking terms, at least
through OK.
c) 'Chronically Pleasant' should be a Chad Harris introduction.
Concerning Rusty: Good to hear you're alive, I was worried you lost
your temper for good. ;-)
Concerning Show Judges: Now you've done it Perry. I get word through
the East Aurora grapevine that I have been appointed as a garden judge;
then you paralyse me with fear of being caught out in a show situation.
;-) Maureen knows how poor I am identifying cultivars; she will
exercise her rights as an apprentice to follow me around, laughing all
the while.
Concerning the Symposium Ballot:
a) Walter's modest proposal will actually shame me into sending in my
ballot this year. I should be able to find one or two items in it;
Rosalie Figge comes to mind.
b) As per Walter's note, I would be able to fill in more if the ballot
could be extended at least to the rest of the pogons.
Re Gerald Darby: Three pods set seed last year.
On the aquisitive side...we got Superstition Gardens' catalogue today.
If anyone would like to know why we still grow TBs, go no further. Our
e-mail goes out tonight with our first list and the shreds of our
budget.
On the historical side, I was looking through the 1949 AIS register
yesterday and found Rev. S.T. Bartlett of Toronto, Ontario. A couple of
telephone calls later... my great-grandfather. No, don't think Cy is a
relative; correct me if you think otherwise!
Regards,
Sandy Ives in Ottawa Canada (zone 4), where I can see the bottom of my
driveway through the white mulch.
