Au contraire...
Below is the header explaining the poll ***!!!BUT NOTICE!!!*** there is a
space for 'write-ins' at the bottom. (the actual form, not the directions)
I was not sure if 'write-ins' were a do-able thing and did not 'push them'
but did mention that it was allowed. Now I wish I had pushed harder... but
that is hindsight. The directions for the 2000 Poll WILL 'push' write-ins!
(Polls are always dated with the year results are published)
I am about to close the poll, augment it with last years winners IN ALL
CATEGORIES from ALL symposia, National competitions, BIS awards, AIS
awards, etc., and ALL iris that either received a vote OR were 'written in'
on the 99 Poll. The tough part is obtaining results from around the world.
We don't realize how 'North American' centric the internet really is!
The only rub on all these things is that I often have too many balls in the
air to really do a complete, finished job on any of them. I am pushing hard
to complete an online, interactive, searchable database of iris pedigrees,
and that is stealing time from everything else.

{{{1st Annual WIS Tall Bearded Popularity Poll
This is an attempt to formulate a "World Iris Popularity Poll" that will
give some indication of those iris cultivars that are favorites throughout
the iris growing world. For a start, it is modeled on the AIS Symposium,
and in fact, uses the list of iris on the 1999 AIS Symposium.
ANYONE who has sufficient interest in iris to have navigated to this page
is welcome to vote. (Please don't 'stuff the ballot box' by voting more
than once!) You don't have to vote the full 25 allowed -- even if you are
only familiar with a few of the iris in this poll please vote for those
that you know and like!
For future World Iris Popularity Polls, the ballot list will be augmented
by cultivars from the "Write-in list." Suggestions as to what other
criteria should be used to place cultivars on this list are welcome. Some
suggestions have been to include cultivars winning AM equivalents from
various National societies, the Primo Firenze winners, cultivars selected
for trial at Wisley, etc.)))
