Perry D's "criteria":
Sutton introductions: I think they are doing the most intense and important
work with Space Agers right now, I'm very interested in working with S/A's,
so they get a big order from me every year.
Paul Black (Mid-America) introductions: Saw his things here, in the
seedling patch, before he picked up and moved to "greener pastures"
(literally!).
Starship Enterprise: Out of "curiosity", more than anything.
Sea Power: Cuz Keith Keppel "beat out" all those other hybridizers -- and
those other Schreiners blues -- at their regional last year with this, and
the catalog shot is to die for. Let us remember that Mr. Keppel won his
(first) Dykes Medal with a blue (remember, Babbling Brook). So much for the
"King of Plicatas". Will probably get a couple of his plics this year too.
Taylor LA's: Because he (and, down the road, Heather Pryor) are doing the
most exciting work in LA's today, in my opinion.
Ghio things: If it's got Romantic Evening in it, I want it, for opening up
new colors and color patterns. I "predict" Romantic Evening is going to be
a gold mine, comparable in importance to Progenitor.
Blyth things: Because Barry Blyth is the most creative, insightful, and
DARING hybridizer of this generation, and I try to get a dozen or so of his
new/newer things every year to work with.
My acquisition list usually revolves around my hybridizing. I usually don't
buy something (at least, not while it's new, with a high price tag) unless I
plan on dabbling with it (especially true with those daylilies).
