Wow, this would turn iris selection from a pleasure to a nightmare!!  Far too
much work!  Although this could be helpful to the prospective customer it can
also be misleading.  Do you really want to go through all that comparison?  I
wouldn't.  If a grower rated something low, who would buy it?  And it may be
something that would do fabulous in the zone the customer is in.  I still
think the best way to find out what will work for you is ask other growers in
your area, read reports in the bulletin and other publications, and ask iris-
talkers.  We're always happy to toot the horn of irises that do well.

As far as my recent rot problem goes...I determined that I, not the cultivars,
am at fault.  When I compared growth in all my beds I found that the most rot
occurred where I made the soil too rich and fertile.  I need to adjust my
cultural conditions (what I am able to change....) to have them do better.
Granted, all things being equal some irises won't do as well as others.  But
that's what the club rhizome sale is for!!
