Maureen, I don't know why we differ in our experience with the broken
color stuff either; the other tall beardeds are right on the mark. The
Ensminger stuff is doing quite well, the Kasperek stuff is doing very
poorly despite incredible pampering. Also, although I have my problems
with Keppel's luminatas, his broken color intro BROKEN DREAMS is doing
the best of the lot!! I have the same trouble with Blyth iris...either
very good or they die. Sometimes, it is a difficulty in establishing
(or re-establishing) and then they are very good. MAGHAREE grew great
on a first year plant from Moonshine Gardens. Then, I gave a piece to a
friend and it died. When I moved and tried to re-establish it, it
nearly died. I dug it up in December, potted it, put it under lights
and planted it out early next summer in a protected spot. Never looked
back since. Same story with SURF LADY. SUPERSTITION seems a great
performer for everyone everywhere!
