Curiously enough, though Victoria Falls is not the best performer among the
numerous Schreiner introductions that I grow, it easily outpoints the other
three you mention, Perry. The air is usually fairly calm in this sheltered
valley (often too much so - we frequently get extended temperature
inversions because of lack of air movement), but when we do get winds they
come in the form of high acceleration gusts that can go from 0 to 60 mph in
10 seconds flat. With stalks that can reach as high as 49 inches, Victoria
Falls can sometimes lean here, not because of the wind, but because the
stalks can be relatively weak for their height and the weight they bear.
They are never snaky, though, as is not uncommon with those of their
stablemate, Honky Tonk Blues.
