Not exactly what you are suggesting, but I tried an experiment last year
ordering ROSY WINGS from 4 different locations (one of the orders
vanished so I wound up with 3) - sources were California (Superstition),
Nebraska (Spruce Gardens), and Texas (Argyle Acres).  ROSY WINGS is a
historic TB with a reputation (according to listers) as one tough
hombre.  They are planted next to each other in a new, raised bed
without my usual rock collection (sieved out).  They all grew well, with
the one from California, which arrived first, getting the biggest before
cold weather, followed by Texas and Nebraska.  The size before winter
seemed to have nothing to do with source (or acclimation) and everything
to do with when it arrived.  Damage seems to be in reverse order -
latest arrival has the most damage, earliest arrival from the fabled
land of irisheaven in California showing the least.  But we aren't done
yet.....
