Oh no! Oh no! And now they're comin' after "my" Honky Tonk Blues. The
three TB Dykes Medalists I *do* vote for, and "y'all" tear 'em up! Guess
y'all will just have to come to the convention here in May and see if I'm
telling the truth, a liar, or just delusional. (Now, how was THAT for a
subtle plug for the national?).
I was very suspicious of Feature Attraction even in the Schreiners' garden
during convention. I was dismayed that so many folks (you know 2/3 of them
were surely AIS judges) were oozing and ah-ing over the "pretty face" and
didn't even notice that there was hardly any increase, and what was there
was already trying to ROT. A "healthier alternative" to F.A. is Paul
Black's Lois Parrish. Wonderful lace, broad form, a prettier color anyhow,
and very fine plant habits.
Let's Boogie was also one of the first-year-bloom stars here in the
convention guests. WOW! What color. Seemed pretty healthy, too, which
predecessors in that color pattern haven't always been. And I think they've
got THREE "freebies" this year that will make my want list. I'm going to
have to come up with a SERIOUS order to them this year, if I want to get all
three, since that's the only way you can get them the first year.

Schreiner's things normally do well for me. Last year, I fell over
in a dead faint when I saw LET'S BOOGIE, which in '97 was one of
their freebies and I'll never know why - just perfect here. If you
wanna bash a Schreiner iris, try bashing HONKYTONK BLUES
Every Schreiner black is fine for me. In another color rage is
FEATURE ATTRACTION.....well, it didn't even make it as a short
subject for me.....
