Janet,
I've had a start of SB here for about 4 years. It doesn't increase, but won't die. It does however, keep the variegation. That's the only reason it hasn't landed on the compost pile.
The I.pallida variegatas..... both forms....... Do beautifully here as long as I remember not to plant them in the shade!
