Yep, I'd say "third time's the charm" (or rather, "3 strikes, you're out").
You're more patient than I. The older I get, the less forgiving I am of
poor performers, no matter how many stars they have in their crown. And,
knowing the kind of gardener you are, when you tried HTB 3 different times,
you were a smart boy and tried them in different sections of your garden,
just in case. That's what I do when I give something another chance.
Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't.

but she just wouldn't cooperate. Replacing it three times and
watching it struggle and die a slow death was too much. If you had
come here last year, you could have seen H T B in the throes of
death!
