Location: Frost belt (z4b) in NE Washington state; 13 miles from ID and about 60 miles south of Canada. Last hard frost is approx. June 1.
Method: Extended Soak & Chill. Soak weighted down seeds for a month, changing the water every other day then plant in potting medium. Trays are watered well then covered with a propagation dome and stacked in an open garage for at least a month. Temps are usually in the low 30s but will drop into the teens.
Everything's just been brought inside to the sunroom about a week ago. (Sunroom's attached to the house with no extra heat, so temps are anywhere from 55 to 80 depending on sun.) Nothing showing yet and probably won't be for a couple of weeks according to germination notes from last season.
Just joined SIGNA but with the exception of I.dicotoma and some 40 chrom Sibs I started much the same seeds last year as I have planted this season:
28c Siberians....3 weeks after bringing inside
JI....3 weeks
JI X Sib....3 weeks
(JI x Sib) X Sib....3 1/2 weeks
I.psuedacorus....4 weeks
I.setosa....4 weeks
Those planted out directly in the garden (TB, SDB, I.cristata) all started popping up between the middle and the end of May.
