Re: SPEC: Germination

SIGNA Seed Recipients,

I'd like to keep track of what seeds have germinated, your location, and
your method.

So far I. pumila "Suslik", I. pumila "Suslik's Sib", I. attica, and I.
longipetala have germinated here in Albuquerque, NM, using the soak and
change water for two weeks then plant in pots covered with plastic wrap and
left on a semi heated porch method. As I get better at this I promise to
shorten the name of that method. I've had alittle under 50% germination.

I actually have an unsupported guess that maybe germination has something to
do with bloom time. All my pumila's in my garden have bloom stalks on them.
I'm not sure about I. longipetala and I. attica because I don't grow them,
but "A Guide to Species Irises" says I. attica is possibly a parent to I.
pumila. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Sidney Gardner
Albuquerque, NM
