CAT: Funny/wierd descriptios

From: "Jan Clark" <janclarx@hotmail.com>

Catching up on some catalogue reading, I was bemused by Adamgrove's
description of CRETAN:

"This one was collected by Mr. Dykes in Crete, leading to a name which
some might think impugns the plant's intelligence, spelling differences
aside."

Which leads me to the question: How many people are breeding for
intelligence in their seedlings? Perhaps we should be, after the
following comment by Mary Forte:

>A local iris garden was the victim of a wildfire several years ago >and
it didn't hurt the irises at all. Apparently even the ones in >pots
made it--the pots melted, but the irises didn't seem to mind.

I'm inclined to think that irises with more intelligence, or more
sensitive natures might be rather more offended at the loss of their
pots in such a manner.

her more intelligent seedlings.
