Actually, you don't touch the falls. Reach BETWEEN the standards to the
styles. Pollination is done there. You should see a swelling of the ovary
in 10 to 14 days if your cross is successful. Expect 3 to 4 months before
harvest, depending on the weather. Many factors are involved in the success
of a "cross." Strip the stalk of foliage once you see a swollen ovary to
minimize the chances of rot.
If the plant is healthy--required minerals--the quality of pod production is
improved. Watering during gestation also helps in a drought or near drought.
