Ian--I should have looked in the SIGNA species manual--but happen to have
the BIS book here by the computer. Did you also check in 'Irises of
China?' I'll try to remember to do so tonight, if you don't have the book.
I've found foetidissima to be a real borer magnet--check for this. Also
you might see if the undersides of the rhizomes have been eaten. This
means voles, which did a job on a lot of things in my garden this winter
and spring. I put some D-Con down their holes yesterday, hee-hee-hee.
