SHOW: OKC Oklahoma Iris Show Results

Afternoon...

Guess I came out of retirement this weekend with my pitiful offerings of what
little is left at a good time... Thanks to Jeff Walters for the help on the
Louisiana's. It saved the day!

The results of the Oklahoma Iris Society Show held today in OKC are as
follows:

SWEEPSTAKES SILVER MEDAL F. W. "Bill" Mc Vicker 14 blues
                              BRONZE MEDAL Louise Carson
12 blues

tie for 3rd place Kathy Poore (that's
me) 8 blues
                                                          Norbert Kowalchyk
          8 blues

The trophies for Best Apogon and Best Median are both quite nice and the
apogon trophy is big. Considering I have hogged the sweepstakes trophy quite
a bit (1994, 1996, & 1998) and this is Bill's first time to win the trophy
with his Father's name on it, I was happy for him!

Yesterday at Edmond I took 6 irises... Remember that was my first show to
enter in two years with the OKC National last year and virtually no shows
held here... I brought home 5 blues and 1 red.

Today I managed to wag 16 stalks up to the show... I am WAY past peak for
any show quality irises plus the aphids are just hideous right now. Had 8
blues, 4 reds and 4 3rds... I was amazed...

Thanks to Jeff Walters for helping me correctly name all my Louisianas, my
BAYOU SHORT STUFF and FREDDIE BOY both got blue ribbons also, along with my
RED ECHO... Always good with medians, the rest of my blues included:
BUMBLEBEE DEELITE, ZINC PINK (with 3 open of which the terminal is opened for
it's 4th day now, it even got a blue at Edmond yesterday), and I got a TB
blue for COOLING TREND, a Rick Ernst 1996...

It was really a pretty big show... 12 tables of TB's, 4 tables of apogons, 2
tables of medians, 2 tables of Youth, and a few extra tables of this and
that... All the arrangements were also outstanding...

With the looks of the bloom I had this weekend (roday we're up into the 80's)
I'm lucky I got a single blue ribbon...

Cheers! Kath in OKC...... =^.^=
