TB, HYB

I notice some negative comments on Overnight Sensation. I had it, but lost
it to general lack of vigor after one tiny stunted and deformed stalk.
Many neglectas seem to thrive in Oregon or northern Calif., but are sickly
growers for me in southern Calif. I love the true blue neglecta (or
near-amoena) pattern, but have just not found a really good one. I insist
on broad, ruffled form with good substance. Any recommendations? I have
tried the following (in order of success):

SUCCESS STORY: Great color, although not blue. Short, bunchy, slightly
open standards. Dependable growth and bloom.
BEST BET: Perfect color, good form, blooms out consistntly without
increase.
PROUD TRADITION: Perfect color, rarely blooms, single rhizome after 5
years.
all the BLYTH stuff: Good color although not blue. Occasional bloom,
mediocre (IN TOWN) to lousy (GALLANT ROGUE) vigor.
ROYAL CRUSADER: Good grower, bland color, blousy weak form.
GREAT GATSBY: No vigor.
MYSTIQUE: Okay color, undependable.
OVERNIGHT SENSATION: No vigor.
ALASKAN SEAS: Rotted out twice, never bloomed.
COLOR CODED, TWIST OF FATE: Lousy form, good color.
DOVER BEACH: Limited vigor, no substance.
SIERRA GRANDE: Lovely, poor growth and bloom in Calif.

Well, that's about it. I'm sure some of you have had much better luck, but
in this particular color pattern, I am a bit frustrated. I am hoping to
breed a bettter-performing neglecta by crossing some of the pitiful growers
with vigorous, well branched other flowers. So far, my best result is an
improved SUCCESS STORY. Fortunately, the two-tone pattern seems easy to
achieve from neglecta X self. Is this a "dominant" gene, or tor the
standards and falls genetics separate?

Thanks for your suggestions,
