clay pots for iris and first bloom

We have the opposite reaction here in the extreme cold of Zone 3 where
winter temps can get below -40 degrees. The clay pots break from the severe
cold and crumble. Plastic pots can be buried with the rim showing in the
autumn for good survival rate.

**Flash - first rhizomatous iris bloomed today, May 12th. A lovely I. pumila
seedling sent to me by Lowell Baumunk. It is a yellow ground color with an
interesting lavender wash on the falls. To my eyes, it is gorgeous.

Also, tulips are blooming with the daffodils. Oh joy.

Cheers,

Ellen
