PCI's are tho only ones I don't stratify. I soak them for around 7 days,
changing the water daily. Then I plant them in peat pellets, and sit them on
a window sill, which recieves plenty of light, but not direct sun. They come
up after 6 weeks or so, without fail, unless I try to grow them over summer.
I find the best time is now (Autumn) or Sept - Oct (Spring)
This is a particularly hot area, but the humidity is not terribly high in
summer. I did find that growing PCI's in pots, on the west side of the house
and watering them in the evenings, with the sun on them, is a sure fire way
to kill them.
Cheers, Jan
