I am well past peak now on my SDB blooms and the IBs are slowly popping.
Slowly because the weather has been cool, wet, and generally nasty.
A few of the SDBs that gave particular pleasure this year.....
LOW LIFE--who can look at a clump of this burgundy on yellowish cream plicata
beauty and not smile. Vigorous and long blooming.
YIPPEE--another smile-maker that looks very cute blooming next to the above
iris. Lilac pink plicata from "down under".
ORANGE DESIGN--creamy orange sherbet that keeps blooming and blooming...nice
bud counts and when you plant this baby...stand back! Increases like
wildfire here.
BUDDY BOY--a Paul Black intro from last year. Hard to capture on film but it
is way cuter than pictured in his catalog. Grows very well also. Good bud
count. I guess I would say blue violet stands with more reddish violet
falls.
CREAM CAKE--what a lovely bright little beacon that really dazzles on those
gray days. White with bright yellow fall spots and cute form.
AUTUMN MAPLE--great pinky orange. Vigorous and a rebloomer too. A clump of
this next to a deep blue like STARDATE is eyecatching.
PRETTY AGAIN-light yellow with straw yellow "thumbprint" A real grower! I
find I like this one more and more. Sutton 1997.
INGENUITY-an older flower (Palmer 1983) that is uniquely beautiful. Everyone
who sees this iris loves it. Rich mid blue violet with deep burgundy thick
veining lines at hafts.
I better wrap it up. Hope everyone is enjoying their blooms!
