In which case, they should not be invited to judge, Walter. I think it
would be interesting to collect a tally of blue ribbons vs. entries in all
the shows, and see what the average is. Not that there should be a quota,
but it could possibly be a useful tool in determining how harsh or lenient
the judges were.
I had the pleasure of clerking for two judges during the Dallas show during
the first days of the convention. They also had an apprentice judge with
them, and the best pearl of wisdom I gleaned (for this topic, anyway) is
that exhibitors deserve the benifit of the doubt.
