I have seen countless articles over the years, and in reputable magazines,
about UFO's, ghosts, crop circles, etc,.
In all of these the writers take themselves quite seriously. I guess people
just love mysteries, and are loath to ever accept that the explanation could
be perfectly normal, and just something that they have overlooked because
they have been so taken up with the mysterious nature of the event. That's
human nature.
