I'll be off-line most of the summer. The runway at my homestead dried off,
so I'll be moving out there. I can be reached at this email address, as I'm
in town at least once a week, and will check it, so I would get back to you
within a week, except for a few trips up north (I want to scope out setosa
arctica a little better - I know so little about it, but it basically
involves flying beyond the arctic circle to access them in the wild, and
I've been too lazy, or whatever, to do it in the past [not to my credit]).
The bloom reports on beardeds, etc. have been more interesting than I
thought they would, as the comparisons between the differing climates and
growth characteristics have been quite informative.
I've been mulling over trying to "host (guest?)" some setosa with people
willing to try them. It would be to see if these would even be viable in a
different latitude (my biggest concern right now rather than zone). These
won't necessarily be potential commercial stock, but nice wildlings. It is
mainly an experiment to see how the standard species from here do, as I've
been having such problems with setosa from southerly climes, that I'd like
to understand the dynamics more fully. I prefer to do this with actual
plants instead of seed, as this is where "the rubber meets the road". If
you're interested let me know. I know how limited some people's valuable
garden space is, so I don't wish to supplant a special TB, or in Sterling
Okase's case, the spot reserved for Mike Sutton's gorgeous seedling :-),
just someone who has a bit of extra room, and wouldn't feel too badly if
it up and died. I'd be happy to cover shipping, etc.
