Everyone in the world seems to think that big city in southern California
is "Lahs AnnGellUs", although it was originally something along the lines
of "La Ciudad de Nuestra Mujer, la Reina de Lohs OnHellAce".

On changed promounciations: I will never forget when we, as a family,
were
in South Dakota(?) and I said something about we were looking for the
capitol in Pierre, carefully pronouncing it the French way, (we had
the children, and this was part of their education, and we took pictures
of
State Capitols). No one could understand us! they pronounce it "peer" or

enroute to Disney World for a family reunion, ages from 6 months to me!)
