Actually, I don't have a list of all the appropriate subject "tags".
Anyone have the correct list?
Bloom season is almost over. I didn't help any by transplanting 90% of my
iris at the start of bloom to make room for the new pool. The gunnite
(concrete) shell got blown in yesterday. Looks awesome; I'm looking
forward to it. NOT looking forward to rebuilding my whole yard. Great
centerpiece for a show garden someday?
Still had great % bloom this year. All that's left are QUEEN IN CALICO,
FRINGE BENEFITS, PLUM WINE, rebloom coming up on MULLED WINE, and a warped
and twisted JUDY MOGIL (sorry, Judy). Oh, I may see signs of stalk
formation on a seedling I transplanted. It had been very vigorous in a
pot; overcrowded & got touched by rot; I moved it to some poisonous soil
where it sulked and most other iris died. Since transplanting ~ 1 month
ago it seems much happier. Although not yet full size, 2-3 fans seem
thicker at the base. It may be a rebloomer, considering one of its
parents. I'm ambivalent about bloom right now; I wish it would save its
vigor to make up for spending a year in toxic soil. If it survives my
abuse, it's definitely a keeper. It is an improved Success Story (95% as
nice in color, much better stalks and branching, better closure on the
standards, good growth habits and Maybe rebloom). To the best of my
recollection, the standards were sky blue with a slightly lavender tone,
and a soft violet blush along the midribs. The falls were bright fuschia
violet. I have a name all picked out; just waiting for some increase to
register it.
