Re: CULT: Comet?

Beth, Comet (yes, the cleanser) is used to treat soft, bacterial rhizome
rot. This is the type of rot that stinks. After scraping out all the rot
back to clean, white tissue, dust the area liberally with Comet. The
powder absorbs moisture, helping to dry the cut, and the hypochlorite
released when the Comet contacts water kills rot bacteria. Comet is also
very strongly alkaline, producing an unfavorable environment for bacteria.

I used just about full can this year. I found that if the weather
cooperates, Comet will dry up and cure soft rot on leaves if you can dust
the whole mushy area. Cutting or scraping may not be needed.
